Winter on the lake.

The quiet gets better when it’s cold.
JEM Lodge is a lake cabin with a hot tub on a 75-acre Northumberland farm, twenty minutes from Newcastle. In winter the farm goes still: frost on the fields, mist on the water, and almost no light pollution, so when the sky is clear the stars do the entertaining.
Inside there’s a log burner with logs and firelighters provided, central heating throughout, a king-size bed and a hot tub on the deck looking out over the lake. Fishing and the rowing boat are included in every stay, and there’s a good pub within walking distance for the evenings you’d rather not cook.

“This place is breathtaking. Watching the stars in the hot tub in the dark was amazing.”

A few winter notes
Check-in is from 3pm and the track to the lodge is unlit, so in winter, when it gets dark early, aim to arrive in daylight if you can. There’s no smoking and no pets. If you’re unsure about the journey in snow or ice, email us before you travel.
Warm up the winter.
